Open Source Tools to Support Data Measurement on Main Streets

These data measurement tools were developed by CUI with the support of our partners to help BIAs/BIDS and other main street stakeholders measure the impact of COVID on the street and local businesses.

 

Fall 2020 Business Impacts Survey

This survey can used by BIAs/BIDs or other main street advocates to measure the impact of COVID. It was developed to address issues and concerns as businesses head into winter 2021. The questions can be entered into an online survey tool such as SurveyMonkey and adapted as needed.

Pedestrian Counting Tool

This tool was developed to help main street advocates study the impact of COVID on pedestrian traffic over time.  It includes guidance and instructions for conducting a pedestrian counting exercise on a particular main street or area.

Vacancy Survey Guide

The only way to get an completely accurate read of whether businesses in a particular area are open or closed is to walk the street. This Guide provides direction to BIAs/BIDs or other main street advocates who want to measure the occupancy status of the businesses on a particular street or area.
